Robert Sokol
OWNER
Rob grew up bi-coastal in New Hampshire and Seattle. He has helped lead and turn around several nonprofits in DC, NYC, and Seattle in both executive and board roles. His professional and trustee roles typically focus on strategic planning, designing financially sustainable futures, and building organizational capacity. As he contemplates life after the kids leave for college, which seems just around the corner, he is putting down roots again in Hancock. With his mother, Eleanor Briggs, his aim is to keep the Market and Fiddleheads in local hands, building on generations of others before him to serve local customers with locally crafted and grown provisions. He sees this as a mission-driven business in service to Hancock and the surrounding communities.
Rob lives in Washington DC with his wife, two boys in high school, and two rather large labs. He spends his free time swimming (sometimes competitively) and exploring the world through photography.

Samantha Rule
GENERAL MANAGER
Samantha has been working in professional kitchens since her first job as a dishwasher at The MacDowell Colony (now MacDowell) when she was 14. Really, though, her passion for cooking and feeding her loved ones was born much earlier, rolling gingerbread cookie dough and working in the garden alongside her beloved grandmother. Samantha attended culinary school at the New England Culinary Institute. She has worked with the chefs of the Monadnock School of Cooking and Philosophy at the High Mowing School, managed the Harrisville General Store, and has run our sister business, Fiddleheads Cafe, since 2023.
Samantha has a particular excitement for exploring the world through cultural cuisine, and is fascinated by the melding of cultures through ingredients and technique. She is a dedicated supporter of local food and seasonal, sustainable cooking and eating. Samantha lives in the Monadnock Region with her husband, four children, two dogs, and a cat. She and her family enjoy spending their time restoring their antique farmhouse and seeking out new food adventures near and far.

She is especially invested in creating a warm and welcoming community at the Hancock Market – a place where all kinds of families will feel welcome.
A native of the Monadnock Region, Robyn has lived in Hancock with her husband and three young children since 2022. She and her family enjoy outdoor adventuring, motor sports, fishing, and cooking.
